PARKER LEADS DMACC VOLLEYBALL TEAM PAST SCC, 3-1

Freshman Peyton Parker of La Porte City had 20 kills to lead the Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) volleyball team to a 3-1 win over Southeastern Community College (SCC) October 11 at West Burlington.

 

Set scores were 25-11, 25-15, 21-25, 25-9 as the Bears improved to 14-15 for the season and 5-1 in the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC).

 

Parker hit .472 in the win, collecting her 20 kills from 36 attacks with just three hitting errors. DMACC, which got 11 kills from sophomore Lauren Rieck of Ankeny and seven by freshman Madison Paulsen of Council Bluffs, hit .364 in the win, getting 46 kills from 99 attacks with 10 hitting errors.

 

Sophomore Leiah Paustian of Marshalltown led the Bears in assists with 40 and also contributed two ace serves. Sophomore Rachael Bair of Clarinda topped DMACC in digs with 14 and Paustian and freshman Gill Tupper of Nevada had eight apiece. Rieck finished the match with eight blocks, including five block assists, and Paustian and freshman Lacey Clark of Bettendorf had five and four blocks respectively.

 

The DMACC volleyball team will face Southwestern Community College (SWCC) Oct. 18 at Creston. The Spartans are 15-18 overall and 3-3 in the ICCAC.
