DMACC Volleyball Team Tops Ellsworth in Three Sets

The Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) volleyball team leveled its record at 12-12 and improved to 4-1 in the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) with a 3-0 win over Ellsworth Community College (ECC) October 4 inside the DMACC gymnasium.

 

Set scores were 25-11, 25-17, 25-11.

 

Freshman Peyton Parker of La Porte City and sophomore Lauren Rieck of Ankeny led the Bears to the win with 12 and 11 kills respectively and freshman Brianna Harvey of Dysart came away with seven kills. DMACC hit .347 in the win, getting 42 kills from 89 total attacks with 11 hitting errors.

 

Sophomore Leiah Paustian of Marshalltown topped the Bears in assists and digs with 36 and 11 respectively. Freshman Lexi Killinger of Treynor had nine digs and Rieck and Harvey led DMACC in blocks with three apiece.

 

The DMACC volleyball team will host the DMACC Invitational today and Oct. 7 inside the DMACC gymnasium. The Bears will face Parkland College (PC) and Coffeyville Community College (CCC) in matches today and will meet North Dakota State College of Science (NDSCS) and Highland Community College (HCC) in matches Oct. 7. The Bears defeated NDSCS, 3-0, in the Topper's Pizza Yellowjacket Invitational Sept. 16 at Rochester, Minn. DMACC has not faced PC, CCC or HCC in matches this season.
