Freshman Peyton Parker of La Porte City had 21 kills and freshman Madison Paulsen of Council Bluffs finished with 14 to lead the Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) volleyball team to a 3-1 win over Northeast (Neb.) Community College (NECC), September 13 inside the DMACC gymnasium.

Set scores were 25-19, 23-25, 25-19, 25-13 as the Bears improved to 5-4 overall and 1-1 in the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference.

DMACC, ranked 20th in the most recent Division II poll from the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA), hit .183 in the win, getting 56 kills from 169 attacks with 25 hitting errors.

Sophomore Leiah Paustian of Marshalltown contributed 52 assists to the win and sophomore Rachael Bair of Braddyville led six players in double figures in digs with 30. Paulsen had 25 digs, Paustian came away with 16, freshman Gill Tupper of Nevada had 14 and sophomore Lexi Killinger of Treynor and Parker finished with 12 and 10 respectively. Sophomore Lauren Rieck led the Bears in blocks with six.

The DMACC volleyball team will play in the Topper's Pizza Yellowjacket Invitational Sept. 15 and 16 at Rochester, Minn. The Bears will face Bismarck State College (BSC) and Madison College (MC) in matches Sept. 15. DMACC opponents on Sept. 16 will be North Dakota State College of Science (NDSCS) and Harper College (HC).
