DMACC Volleyball Team Tops Central JV in Home Opener

Freshman Peyton Parker of La Porte City had 10 kills and sophomore Leiah Paustian of Marshalltown finished with 23 assists to lead the Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) volleyball team to a 3-0 win over the Central College junior varsity September 7 in the Bears' home opener.

 

Set scores were 25-9, 25-22, 25-11.

 

Sophomore Lauren Rieck of Ankeny finished with five kills and freshman Madison Paulsen of Council Bluffs had four as DMACC improved to 4-4 for the season. The Bears hit .135 in the match, getting 23 kills from 74 attacks with 13 hitting errors.

 

Paustian and Parker contributed two ace serves apiece to the win and Paulsen topped the Bears in digs with 12. Freshman Gill Tupper of Nevada and sophomore Rachael Bair of Braddyville had eight and six digs respectively. Rieck led DMACC in blocks with seven, including four block assists. Parker finished with four blocks and freshman Brianna Harvey of Dysart had three.

 

The DMACC volleyball team will host Northeast (Neb.) Community College (NECC) Sept. 13 inside the DMACC gymnasium. DMACC is 0-1 in the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC). NECC is 7-5 overall and 2-0 in conference play.
