DMACC women's golf team is 19th after first day of national championship
  • Sophomore Lydia Steier of Granger leads DMACC with a 96 and is tied for 76th place
  • Sophomores Krista Swenson of Story City and Aubrey Duncan of Columbus Junction post 99s and sophomore Emily Knoche of Iowa City shoots 114
  • Seminole State College leads the tournament with a team score of 298

 

The DMACC women's golf team finds itself in 19th place following the first round of the 2021 National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Women's National Championship May 10 at Plantation Bay Golf & Country Club in Ormond Beach, Fla.

 

The Bears opened with a 408. Seminole State College (SSC) leads the tournament with a 298 and SSC's Minori Nagano tops the individual competition with a one-over-par 72.

 

DMACC was led by sophomore Lydia Steier of Granger, who shot a 96. Sophomores Krista Swenson of Story City and Aubrey Duncan of Columbus Junction posted 99s and sophomore Emily Knoche of Iowa City shot a 114. Steier is 76th, Swenson and Duncan are tied for 81st and Knoche is 111th.

 

The tournament continues through May 13.
