DMACC women's golf team finishes third in Iowa Central Spring Invite

  • Sophomore Lydia Steier of Granger leads Bears with 172 strokes and finishes ninth
  • Sophomores Aubrey Duncan of Columbus Junction and Krista Swenson of Story City and freshman Quinn Eslinger of Afton finish in top 12

 

Sophomore Lydia Steier of Granger posted rounds of 85 and 87 for a 36-hole score of 172 in leading the DMACC women's golf team to a third-place finish in the Iowa Central Spring Invite April 9 and 10 at the Fort Dodge Country Club in Fort Dodge.

 

The Bears totaled 699 strokes in the tournament.

 

Mount Mercy University (MMU) won the team championship with 645 strokes and MMU's Breanna Felderman took medalist honors with a two-day total of 153. Felderman shot rounds of 76 and 77 on the par 71 layout.

 

Steier's 172 gave her a ninth-place finish in the individual competition. Sophomores Aubrey Duncan of Columbus Junction and Krista Swenson of Story City placed 10th and 11th respectively and freshman Quinn Eslinger of Afton was 12th.

 

Duncan shot rounds of 90 and 85 for a 36-hole score of 174, Swenson turned in scores of 90 and 86 for a 176 and Eslinger shot a 177 on rounds of 90 and 87.

 

DMACC freshman Frannie Brown of Des Moines and sophomore Emily Knoche of Iowa City also played in the tournament, posting scores of 193 and 198 respectively. Brown shot rounds of 95 and 98, tying for 22nd, and Knoche finished in 26th place on two rounds of 99.

 

The DMACC women's golf team will play in the NIACC Spring Invitational April 15 at the Mason City Country Club in Mason City.
