DMACC women's golf team wins DMACC Invitational

 

Sophomore Krista Swenson of Story City shot a 10-over-par 81 to lead the DMACC women's golf team to the team championship in the DMACC Invitational April 6 at the Ames Golf & Country Club in Ames.

 

The Bears shot an 18-hole score of 353 and finished nine strokes ahead of North Iowa Area Community College (NIACC). Coe College (CC) finished third at 392 and Clarke University (CU) was fourth with a 445.

 

Megan Tanghe of CC took medalist honors with an 80, one stroke ahead of Swenson.

 

DMACC sophomores Aubrey Duncan of Columbus Junction and Lydia Steier of Granger carded 90s and tied for seventh place and freshmen Frannie Brown of Grundy Center and Quinn Eslinger of Afton tied for 10th with 92s.

 

DMACC freshman Emily Knoche of Iowa City also played in the tournament and finished in 20th place with a 105.

 

The DMACC women's golf team will play in the Iowa Central Spring Invitational April 9 and 10 at the Fort Dodge Country Club in Fort Dodge.
