DMACC women's basketball players earn postseason honors

The Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) has announced the Division II All-Region women's basketball team and four members of the DMACC women's basketball team were included in the list.

 

Sophomores Jaden Ainley of Clear Lake and Reanna Hutchinson of Eau Claire, Wis., were named to the first team. Sophomore Rebekah Fuller of Bondurant was named to the second team. Sophomore Hallie Mohr of Mediapolis received honorable mention recognition and was named to the Region XI-A All-Tournament Team.

 

Ainley led the Bears in scoring and rebounding this season with 583 points and 210 rebounds, averaging 18.8 points and 6.8 rebounds a game. She finished third in the ICCAC in scoring average. Ainley shot 43 percent from the field, hitting 193 of 452 field goal attempts. She was 53-of-149 from three-point range for 36 percent and made 144 of 180 free throws for 80 percent. Her 210 rebounds included 119 defensive rebounds. Ainley's season also included 61 assists, 43 steals and four blocked shots.

 

Hutchinson was second to Ainley in scoring with 496 points and a 16 point averaging, giving her fifth place in the ICCAC. She shot 44 percent from the field, making 186 field goals from 426 attempts. Hutchinson shot 40 percent from three-point range with 80 three-pointers from 202 attempts and she was 44-of-72 from the free throw line for 62 percent. Hutchinson's season also included 152 rebounds, 54 assists, 54 steals and 14 blocked shots.

 

Fuller scored 258 points for the season, averaging 8.3 points a game. She shot 46 percent from the field with 116 field goals from 252 attempts and she was 26-of-42 from the free throw line for 62 percent. Fuller's season included 145 rebounds, 33 assists, 26 steals and 40 blocked shots.

 

Mohr came away from the 2023-24 season with 183 points and a 5.6 scoring average. She shot 32 percent from the field with 59 field goals from 182 attempts and was 21-of-67 from three-point range for 31 percent. She shot 80 percent at the free throw line, going 44-of-55. Mohr's season also included 156 rebounds, 23 assists, 11 steals and three blocked shots.

 

Mohr was DMACC's leading scorer with 19 points in a 92-70 loss to Iowa Central Community College (ICCC) in the semifinals of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region XI-A Women's Basketball Tournament and was named to the all-tournament team.

 

The DMACC women's basketball team concluded the season at 20-11 and the Bears were 15-5 in the ICCAC, tying for third place. DMACC put together a nine-game winning streak during the season and also won 13 of 14 games at one point in the season.
