DMACC's Reanna Hutchinson named ICCAC Athlete of the Week

The Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) has named DMACC's Reanna Hutchinson the ICCAC Athlete of the Week for Women's Basketball for the week of February 12 to 18.

 

The honor is the second earned by Hutchinson this season and she is one of two members of the DMACC women's basketball team to be honored by the conference. She also earned the reward for the week of Jan. 22 to 28. Jaden Ainley, a sophomore from Clear Lake, was honored for the week of Nov. 27 to Dec. 3.

 

Hutchinson, a sophomore from Eau Claire, Wis., scored 46 points and had seven rebounds, four steals and two assists in helping the Bears to two wins during the week. She was 5-of-13 from the field, including 3-of-7 from three-point range, and 2-of-2 from the free throw line en route to 15 points in an 87-75 win over Southwestern Community College (SWCC) on Feb. 14 and made 11 of 14 field goal attempts, including 6-of-7 from three-point range, and hit three of five free throw attempts for 31 points in an 81-69 win over Iowa Central Community College (ICCC) on Feb. 17. Hutchinson's game against SWCC included five rebounds and three steals and she had two rebounds, two assists and a steal in the win over ICCC.

 

For the week Hutchinson was 16-of-27 from the field for 59 percent. She made nine of 14 three-pointers for 64 percent and was 5-of-7 from the free throw line for 71 percent.

 

Hutchinson has scored 445 points this season and is shooting 44 percent from the field, having made 167 of 379 field goal attempts. She is 73-of-179 from three-point range for 41 percent and has made 38 of 63 free throws for 60 percent.

 

Hutchinson's season also includes 141 rebounds, 53 assists and 51 steals.

 

The DMACC women's basketball team, ranked 18th in the Division II poll from the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA), is 20-8 overall and 15-3 in the ICCAC, good for third place behind Iowa Western Community College (IWCC) and Kirkwood Community College (KCC). The Bears play IWCC Feb. 24 at Council Bluffs and will be seeking to avenge a 76-74 loss to the Reivers Jan. 20 inside the DMACC gymnasium.
