Ainley's double-double lifts DMACC women's basketball team past SWCC, 64-56

Sophomore Jaden Ainley of Clear Lake recorded a double-double with 29 points and 12 rebounds to lead the DMACC women's basketball team to a 64-56 win over Southwestern Community College (SWCC) January 10 at Creston.

 

Ainley got her 29 points from nine field goals in 18 attempts and nine free throws in 10 attempts. She was 2-of-7 from three-point range.

 

Sophomore Reanna Hutchinson of Eau Claire, Wis., reached double figures with 17 points as the Bears improved to 10-6 overall and 5-1 in the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) with their fourth consecutive victory.

 

DMACC opened up a 22-12 lead at the end of the first quarter and controlled the tempo the rest of the way. The Bears led 32-21 at halftime and 51-41 at the end of the third quarter.

 

DMACC shot just 28 percent, hitting 20 of 71 field goal attempts. The Bears were 5-of-34 from three-point range and 19-of-23 from the free throw line.

 

Freshman Joy Beran of Riceville also had 12 rebounds as DMACC came away with a 52-28 advantage on the boards. Sophomores Rebekah Fuller of Bondurant and Hallie Mohr of Mediapolis had seven rebounds apiece and Hutchinson added five. Beran and sophomore Kennedy Jones of Oak Park, Ill., dished out four assists apiece and freshman Mary Walker of Fonda topped DMACC in steals with two.
