DMACC women's basketball team tops ICCC, 80-66

 

Sophomores Reanna Hutchinson of Eau Claire, Wis., and Jaden Ainley of Clear Lake scored 21 points apiece as the DMACC women's basketball team handed Iowa Central Community College (ICCC) an 80-66 loss in an Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) matchup December 13 at Fort Dodge.

 

Sophomore Rebekah Fuller of Bondurant and freshman Eviyon Richardson of Waterloo tallied 12 points apiece as the Bears improved to 7-6 overall and 3-1 in the ICCAC.

 

DMACC led throughout the game. The Bears had a 23-14 lead at the end of the first quarter and held a 50-31 advantage at halftime. They carried a 65-50 lead into the fourth quarter.

 

DMACC shot 45 percent in the win, making 31 of 69 field goal attempts. Hutchinson drained five of nine three-point attempts as the Bears hit 10 of 23 shots from beyond the arc. They were 8-of-9 from the free throw line.

 

Sophomore Hallie Mohr of Mediapolis had nine rebounds and Fuller and Hutchinson collected seven and six respectively as DMACC came away with a 51-26 advantage on the boards. Sophomore Kennedy Jones of Oak Park, Ill., topped DMACC in assists with five and joined Ainley and Richardson with two steals apiece.

 

The DMACC women's basketball team is idle until Jan. 3, 2024, when the Bears will host Iowa Lakes Community College (ILCC). The Lakers are 4-6 overall and 0-3 in the ICCAC.
