DMACC women's basketball team tops Briar Cliff JV,102-85

 

Freshman Eviyon Richardson of Waterloo scored 20 points and sophomores Reanna Hutchinson of Eau Claire, Wis., and Jaden Ainley of Clear Lake tallied 19 points apiece as the DMACC women's basketball team defeated the Briar Cliff University Junior Varisty, 102-85, November 17 in the Iowa Central Classic at Fort Dodge.

 

Sophomores Rebekah Fuller of Bondurant and Mary Walker of Fonda also scored in double figures with 16 and 10 points respectively as the Bears improved to 2-3 for the season.

 

DMACC trailed 23-19 at the end of the first quarter but outscored the Chargers 28-19 in the second period for a 47-42 advantage at halftime. DMACC led 72-63 at the end of the third quarter.

 

The Bears shot 51 percent in the win, hitting 41 of 80 field goal attempts. They were 8-of-20 from three-point range and 12-of-13 from the free throw line.

 

DMACC had a 45-28 advantage in rebounding with sophomore Kennedy Jones of Oak Park, Ill., pulling down nine rebounds to lead the Bears. Hutchinson and freshman Joy Beran of Riceville had seven rebounds apiece and Ainley finished with six. Jones also topped DMACC in assists with eight and Richardson had six. Fuller led the way in steals with three.

 

The DMACC women's basketball team will play the Wartburg College Junior Varsity tonight at Waverly.
