DMACC women's basketball team falls to ICCC in final home game of regular season

Sophomore Jade Powell of Des Moines recorded a double-double with 20 points and 15 rebounds and also blocked three shots as the DMACC women's basketball team closed out the home portion of the regular season with a 69-63 loss to Iowa Central Community College (ICCCC) March 31 inside the DMACC gymnasium.

 

The game was close all the way with DMACC leading 13-9 at the end of the first quarter. The score was tied at 29 at halftime and ICCC had a 46-45 advantage at the end of the third quarter.

 

Freshman Emily Caspers of Swaledale scored nine points and freshman Grace Flanagan of Coggon had six as DMACC shot 34 percent from the field, hitting 23 of 67 field goal attempts. The Bears were 7-of-23 from three-point range and 10-of-16 from the free throw line.

 

Flanagan's game included six rebounds, four assists and two steals. Freshman Jenna Bohaty of Omaha, Neb., had three assists and two steals.

 

The DMACC women's basketball team, ranked 17th in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II poll, closes out the regular season against Southeastern Community College (SECC) April 3 at West Burlington. SECC is 4-17 this season, including an 84-64 loss to DMACC when the two teams played March 20 inside the DMACC gymnasium.
