The win was the fourth straight for the Bears after a season-opening loss to Kirkwood Community College (KCC).

DMACC, ranked 13th in the most recent Division II poll from the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA), got 13 points from freshman Grace Flanagan of Coggon and 12 by freshman Jenna Bohaty of Omaha, Neb.

DMACC trailed 43-29 and 46-32 late in the third period before mounting its comeback. A three-pointer by Bohaty in the final 10 seconds of the quarter cut ICCC's advantage to 46-41 heading into the fourth period and she added another trey 10 seconds into the final period to make it a 46-44 game.

The Bears tied the game at 48 on a basket by sophomore Jada Powell of Des Moines, then took their first lead since early in the first quarter at 50-48 on an offensive rebounds and putback by freshman Emily Caspers of Swaledale.

Bohaty's third three-pointer of the half, coming with just more than a minute to play, cut an ICCC four-point advantage to 63-62 and Christopherson's free throw with 32 seconds to play got DMACC a 63-63. Powell grabbed the rebound when Christopherson missed her second attempt and was fouled with 30 seconds left. She made one of two attempts, giving the Bears the lead for good at 64-63 and Christopherson closed out the win with three free throws in the final 10 seconds.

DMACC shot 29 percent in the win, hitting 20 of 69 field goal attempts. The Bears were 7-of-23 from three-point range and 20-of-32 from the free throw line.

Caspers collected 12 rebounds and Powell pulled down 11 to lead DMACC to a 49-39 advantage on the boards. Christopherson and Flanagan dished out a pair of assists apiece and Christopherson topped the Bears in steals with three.

The DMACC women's basketball team will host Ellsworth Community College (ECC) Feb. 6 inside the DMACC gymnasium. Game time is 1 p.m. ECC brings a 1-3 record into the game.
