DMACC Women's Basketball Team Defeats Iowa Lakes, 78-66

The DMACC women's basketball team, defeated Iowa Lakes Community College (ILCC), 78-66, on Sat., Jan. 30th, in Boone. ILCC was ranked 11th in the nation according to the latest National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II poll.

Magan Christopherson, a freshman from Milford, scored 19 points for the Bears, who are now 3-1 on the season. Grace Flanagan of Coggon scored 13 points, Jada Powell of Des Moines East High School chipped in 12 and Jensen Archibald of Martensdale added 10 points. Jenna Bohaty of Millard West High School in Omaha came off the bench, and connected on two of four three-point shots and added nine points for the Bears.

Powell led DMACC with nine rebounds, coming up just one rebound short of a double-double for the game. Flanagan hauled down eight rebounds as the Bears took a 43 to 31 rebounding edge over ILCC.

DMACC connected on 53 percent of their field goal attempts and made 17 of 25 free throws for 68 percent.  

DMACC (3-1) travels to Fort Dodge to play against Iowa Central Community College (2-2) on Wed., Feb. 3rd. Tip off is scheduled for 5 p.m.
