DMACC men's golf team finishes third in NJCAA Division II Men's Golf National Preview

 

The DMACC men's golf team came away with a third-place finish in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II Men's Golf National Preview September 18 and 19 at Twin Hills Golf & Country Club in Joplin, MO.

 

The Bears posted a 285 in the 54-hole event and finished 45 stroke behind the winning total of 240 by Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College (MGCCC). Kirkwood Community College (KCC), DMACC's rival in the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC), was second with 274 strokes.

 

Peyton Russell of MGCCC took medalist honors with a one-over-par 217 on rounds of 73, 71 and 73 over the par-72 layout.

 

DMACC was led by freshman Drew Teeter of Albert Lea, Minn. Teeter tied for fourth with a 54-hole score of 223 on rounds of 77, 74 and 72. The Bears got a tie for 14th from sophomore Spencer Clatt of Gilbert. Clatt posted a 235 on rounds of 77, 83 and 75.

 

Other DMACC results saw sophomore Kaleb Allen of West Burlington tie for 22nd. Sophomore Drake Anderson of Sioux City tied for 27th, sophomore Calvin McNeeley of Pleasant Hill tied for 36th and freshman Lari Hakanen of Kerava of Finland tied for 45th.

 

Allen's 54-hole total was 238 on rounds of 76, 79 and 83. Anderson posted a score of 240 on rounds of 77, 78 and 83 and McNeeley finished at 244 with scores of 81, 81 and 82. Kerava closed the tournament at 259 with scores of 89, 81 and 89.

 

The DMACC men's golf team will play in the NIACC Invite Sept. 26 at Mason City.
