DMACC men's golf team finishes fifth in North Central District Preview

 

The DMACC men's golf team came away with a fifth-place finish in the North Central District Preview Sept. 13 at Gates Park Golf Course in Waterloo.

 

Kirkwood Community College (KCC) claimed the team championship with a three-under-par 285. DMACC tallied an 11-over-par 299 strokes in its fifth-place finish. KCC's Grant Greazel took medalist honors with a four-under-par 68 over the par 72 layout.

 

Sophomore Calvin McNeeley of Pleasant Hill led DMACC with an even-par 72 and tied for ninth place. Sophomore Drake Anderson of Sioux City tied for 11th place with a one-over-par 73 and sophomore Kaleb Allen of West Burlington and freshman Drew Teeter of Albert Lea, Minn., tied for 18th place with 74s.

 

Other DMACC results saw sophomore Cade McGill of Johnston and freshman Caleb Ham of Hudson tie for 29th with five-over-par 77s. Sophomores Spencer Clatt of Gilbert and Cole Johnson of Sioux City and freshman Zach Julander of Pleasant Hill tied for 35th with 77s and freshman Lari Hakanen of Kerava, Finland, placed 43rd with an 80.

 

Sophomore Layden Losh of Boone and freshman Grant Van Veen of Prairie City round out DMACC's performance by placing 50th and 53rd respectively. Losh posted an 83 and Van Veen shot 89.

The DMACC men's golf team will play in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) National Championship Preview Sept. 18 and 19 at Twin Hills Country Club in Joplin, Mo.
