DMACC MEN’S GOLF TEAM WINS THE BATTLE OF WATERLOO GOLF TOURNAMENT
  • DMACC wins the Battle of Waterloo by 14 strokes
  • DMACC freshman Spencer Clatt of Gilbert earns medalist honors
  • DMACC's Calvin McNeeley and Sam Vertanen shot the low scores of the round during the second and third rounds, respectively

            The DMACC men's golf team won the two-day Battle of Waterloo Golf Tournament held April 14 and 15 at the Irv Warren/S. Hills/Gates Course in Waterloo.  DMACC Freshman Spencer Clatt of Gilbert was the medalist shooting an even par 216 over the three rounds.  He shot a 71, 73 and 72.  That was four strokes better than Austin Reynolds and Melker Andersson, both of Hawkeye Community College.

            The DMACC men shot a 22 over par 886, defeating second place Hawkeye Community College by 14 strokes in the six-team event.   

            DMACC sophomore Sam Vertanen of Ames shot a 6 over par 226 for fourth place.  Pleasant Hill freshman Calvin McNeeley tied for fifth with a 223.  Other DMACC finishers included:  sophomore Ethan Gills of Pickering, Ontario in 12th with a 229, freshman Kaleb Allen of West Burlington in a tied for 21st with a 232 and Cole Johnson, a freshman from Sioux City, tied for 25th with a 234.

            In addition, McNeeley shot the low score on the second round with a 72 and Vertanen shot the low score on the third round with a one under par 71.

            The DMACC men are back on the course on Tuesday, April 18 and Wednesday, April 19 when they compete in the Verhille Invitational at the Finkbine Golf Course in Iowa City.
