DMACC men's golf team remains at 11th in national tournament
  • Sophomore Dylan Ellis of Aplington led DMACC in the second round with a 2-over-par 74
  • .Freshman Tyler Sansgaard of Nevada posted a 76 in the second round
  • Sophomore Joe Dean of Cedar Falls, freshman Logan Barnes of Altoona and sophomore Ryan Leath of Glenwood posted 79, 81 and 87 respectively

 

The DMACC men's golf team slipped from tenth to 11th following the second round of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II National Championship May 19 at Swan Lake Resort in Plymouth, Ind.

 

The Bears posted a 310 to go with their 304 in the first round and have a 36-hole total of 614. South Mountain Community College (SMCC) stretched its lead from one stroke to three strokes after 36-holes of play. SMCC turned in a 286 in the second round for a 36-hole score of 573, three strokes ahead of Parkland College (PC), which shot a 283 in the second round

 

SMCC's Cecil Belisle continues to lead the individual competition with a two-round total of 135. Belisle posted a four-under-par 68 in the second round.

 

Sophomore Dylan Ellis of Aplington leads DMACC with a 36-hole score of 147 after shooting a 74 in the second round. Ellis is tied for 16th place.

 

Freshman Tyler Sansgaard of Nevada, sophomore Joe Dean of Cedar Falls, freshman Logan Barnes of Altoona and sophomore Ryan Leath of Glenwood turned in rounds of 76, 79, 81 and 87 respectively in the second round. Sansgaard is tied for 26th at 149, Dean is tied for 71st at 159, Barnes is tied for 76th with a 160 and Leath is tied for 96th with a 166.

 

The tournament continues through May 21.
