DMACC men's golf team finishes second in Iowa Central Spring Invite
  • Iowa Central Community College (ICCC) takes team championship with a 575
  • Sophomore Dylan Ellis of Aplington leads DMACC with a tie for ninth
  • Sophomores Joe Dean of Cedar Falls and Trevor Heinen of Waterloo finish in the top 20

 

Sophomore Dylan Ellis of Aplington shot rounds of 72 and 77 for a 36-hole score of 149 and tied ninth place as the DMACC men's golf team finished second to Iowa Central Community College (ICCC) in the Iowa Central Spring Invite April 9 and 10 at the Fort Dodge Country Club in Fort Dodge.

 

The Bears posted a 36-hole score of 600 on rounds of 294 and 306. Iowa Central Community College (ICCC) took the team championship with a score of 575 and ICCC's Austin Erickson won medalist honors with an even-par 142 on rounds of 70 and 72 on the par-71 layout.

 

Two other DMACC golfers finished in the top 20. Sophomore Joe Dean of Cedar Falls tied for 13th and sophomore Trevor Heinen of Waterloo finished in 18th place. Dean shot rounds of 74 and 77 for a 151 and Heinen posted scores of 74 and 78 for a 152.

 

Other DMACC results saw freshman Logan Barnes of Altoona and sophomore Ryan Leath of Glenwood tie for 24th and freshman Tyler Sansgaard of Nevada tied for 31st. Barnes turned in scores of 73 and 82 for a 155 total and Leath shot rounds of 74 and 81 to also finish at 155. Sansgaard's tie for 31st came from rounds of 82 and 74 for a 156.

 

DMACC freshman Jack West of Winterset also played in the tournament and tied for 47th place at 163. He shot scores of 81 and 82.

 

The DMACC men's golf team will play in the NIACC Invite April 15 at the Mason City Country Club in Mason City.
