DMACC men's golf team ties for third in DMACC Invitational
  • Sophomores Dylan Ellis of Aplington and Ryan Leath of Glenwood lead Bears with a 7-over-par 149 and tie for 13th place
  • Iowa Western Community College captures team championship with a 36-hole total of 568
  • Ellis, Leath and sophomores Joe Dean of Cedar Falls and Trevor Heinen of Waterloo finish in top 20

 

The DMACC men's golf team came away with a tie for third place in the DMACC Invitational April 5 at Otter Creek Golf Course in Ankeny.

 

Iowa Western Community College (IWCC) won the team championship with a 36-hole score of 568, 17 strokes better than runner-up Iowa Central Community College (ICCC). DMACC and Hawkeye Community College (HCC) tied for third with 36-hole scores of 609.

 

IWCC's Jakob Falk Schollert took medalist honors with a one-under-par 141, turning in rounds of 73 and 68 over the par-71 course.

 

Sophomores Dylan Ellis of Aplington and Ryan Leath of Glenwood led DMACC with 149 totals, tying for 13th place in the individual competition. Both posted scores of 74 and 75. Sophomores Joe Dean of Cedar Falls and Trevor Heinen of Glenwood tied for 20th place with 36-hole scores of 152. Dean posted scores of 77 and 75 Heinen shot rounds of 74 and 78.

 

Other DMACC results saw freshman Jack West of Winterset finish 27th, freshman Tyler Sansgaard of Nevada tied for 39 and freshmen Logan Barnes of Altoona and Ryan Nichols of Ogden tied for 42nd and 65th respectively. West shot rounds of 76 and 78 for a 154, Sansgaard posted scores of 80 and 79 for a 159, Barnes shot 82 and 80 for a 162 and Nichols turned in scores of 95 and 85 for a 180.

 

The DMACC men's golf team will play in the Iowa Central Invite April 9 at the Fort Dodge Country Club in Fort Dodge.
