DMACC men's golf team in 12th place after first day of national championship

The Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) men's golf team is in 12th place following the opening round of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II Championship May 21 at Glen Lakes Golf Club in Foley, Ala.

 

The Bears posted a score of 310 in the first round. Tyler Community College (TCC) leads the tournament with a 289 and Kean Kontor of Southeast Community College (SECC) tops the individual competition. Kontor shot a 2-under-par 70 in his first round.

 

Sophomore Alec Fuhs of Webster City led DMACC with a 3-over-par 75. Sophomore Robert Flattery of Fort Dodge and Kolby Chup of Des Moines turned in 77s, sophomore Parker Davidson of Pleasant Hill posted an 81 and sophomore Avery Fuhs of Webster City shot an 83.

 

Alec Fuhs is tied for 30th in the individual competition, Flattery and Chup are tied for 68th, Davidson is tied for 96th and Avery Fuhs is tied for 106th.

 

The tournament continues through May 24 at Glen Lakes Golf Club.
