DMACC's Willie Guy named ICCAC Athlete of the Week for Division II men's basketball
  • Sophomore from Cedar Rapids helped Bears to two wins during the week
  • Guy averaged 11.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 7.5 assists in the two games

The Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) has named DMACC sophomore Willie Guy of Cedar Rapids the ICCAC Athlete of the Week for Division I men's basketball for the week of February 1 to 7.

 

Guy helped the DMACC men's basketball team to a pair of wins during the week, averaging 11.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 7.5 assists in the two games. He had 13 points, three rebounds and six assists in a 95-64 win over Iowa Central Community College (ICCC) Feb. 3 at Fort Dodge and came away with 10 points, six rebounds and nine assists in a 74-62 win over Iowa Lakes Community College (ILCC) Feb. 6 inside the DMACC gymnasium.

 

DMACC, ranked second in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II poll, improved to 5-1 with the wins.

 

Guy is averaging 12.3 points, 4.2 rebounds and 6.3 assists a game. He is shooting 46 percent from the field (23-of-50), 30 percent from three-point range (3-of-10) and 86 percent from the free throw line (25-of-29). Guy has scored 74 points this season, grabbed 25 rebounds, dished out 38 assists and garnered six steals.

 

Guy leads the NJCAA in assist to turnover ratio at 4.8, having committed just eight turnovers this season.
