DMACC's DeShawn Davidson named ICCAC Division II Athlete of the Week

The Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) has named Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) men's basketball player DeShawn Davidson the ICCAC Athlete of the Week for Division II Men's Basketball for the week of November 12 to 18.

 

The honor is the second in a row for Davidson, a sophomore from Waukegan, Ill. He also earned the honor for the week of Nov. 5 to 11.

 

Davidson scored 80 points in helping the Bears to a 2-1 record during the week, including a 34-point, nine-rebound performance in a win against Metropolitan Community College (MCC).

 

Davidson continues to lead Division II of the ICCAC in scoring with a 23.7 average. He is fourth in rebounding with a 7.4 average.

 

Davidson, who has scored 166 points, is shooting 49 percent from the field, having made 58 of 118 field goal attempts. He is 17-of-37 from three-point range for 46 percent and has made 33 of 40 free throw attempts for 83 percent.

 

Davidson's season also includes 52 rebounds, including 39 defensive rebounds, 16 assists and five steals.

 

The DMACC men's basketball team, 6-2 for the season, hosts Marshalltown Community College (MCC) Nov. 24 inside the DMACC gymnasium. Game time is 3 p.m.
