DMACC's Wali Parks and Lee Higgins Earn postseason Basketball Honors

DMACC's Wali Parks and Lee Higgins have earned all-region honors on the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II All-Region Men's Basketball Team.

 

Parks, a sophomore from Iowa City, was named to the first team and Higgins, a freshman from Chicago, Ill., earned second-team honors.

 

Parks averaged 15.8 points and 5.8 rebounds a game this season. He shot 47 percent from the field, hitting 164 of 346 field goal attempts, including 41 of 120 three-point attempts for 34 percent. Parks was 105-of-164 from the free throw line for 64 percent. He led the Bears in rebounding with 173, including 137 defensive rebounds. His season also included a team-high 89 assists, 19 steals and 20 blocked shots.

 

Higgins averaged 15.7 points a game on 45 percent shooting. He was 148-of-332 from the field and made 73 of 196 three-point attempts for 37 percent. Higgins was 102-of-129 from the free throw line for 79 percent. His season also included 65 rebounds, 46 assists, 40 steals and 11 blocked shots.

 

The DMACC men's basketball team finished the season at 17-13. The Bears were 3-9 in the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC), good for sixth place.
