The Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) has named DMACC's Cadyn Schwabe the ICCAC Athlete of the Week for Division II baseball for the week of April 5th to 11th (view here).

Schwabe is the sixth member of the DMACC baseball team to be honored by the conference this season. Freshman Jackson Fisher of Chariton earned the honor for the week of Feb. 1st to 7th, freshman Jake Thilges was honored for the week of Feb. 22nd to 28th and freshman Carter Bornemeier of Elmwood, Neb., received the honor for the week of March 22nd to 28th. DMACC freshmen Greg Ryun of Victoria, Minn., and Anthony Potthoff of Van Meter were honored for their pitching performances, Ryun the week of Feb. 1st to 7th and Potthoff the week of March 22nd to 28th. 

Schwabe, a freshman from Thompson, N.D., batted .500 with 11 hits in 22 at-bats as the Bears went 3-3 for the week, winning a pair of games from Marshalltown Community College (MCC) and dropping three of four games to Iowa Central Community College (ICCC). Schwabe's 11 hits included two doubles, a triple and a home run. He scored 11 runs, including a walkoff run in a 9-8 win over ICCC. 

Schwabe's week was highlighted by three games. He was 4-for-5 with a double and a triple and four runs scored in an 18-6 win over MCC on April 6th. In a 9-3 loss to ICCC on April 10th Schwabe was 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBIs and in the 9-8 win over ICCC on April 11th he had three hits in five at-bats, including a double, scored three runs and drove in two. 

Schwabe is hitting .330 this season with a .525 on-base percentage and a .429 slugging percentage. He has 37 hits in 112 at-bats, including four doubles, two triples and a home run. He has scored 37 runs and driven in 18 runs. Schwabe leads the Bears in stolen bases with 25 and has been caught stealing once. 

The DMACC baseball team is 15-21 overall and 11-13 in the ICCAC after splitting a doubleheader against Southwestern Community College (SWCC) April 14th at the DMACC baseball diamond. The Bears play doubleheaders against Ellsworth Community College (ECC) April 17th and 18th at Iowa Falls.
