  • Freshmen Jake Thilges of Johnston and Jackson Fisher of Chariton have also been honored by the conference
  • Bornemeier had nine hits, stole four bases and scored nine runs as the Bears went 5-1 during the week
  • Bornemeier is tied for the conference lead in stolen bases with 15

 

The Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) has named DMACC's Carter Bornemeier the ICCAC Athlete of the Week for Division II baseball for the week of March 22 to 28.

 

Bornemeier, a freshman from Elmwood, Neb., is the third member of the DMACC baseball team to be honored by the conference this season. Freshman Jake Thilges of Johnston earned the honor for the week of Feb. 22 to 28 and freshman Jackson Fisher of Chariton was honored for the week of Feb. 1 to 7.

 

Bornemeier recorded nine hits and five walks in six games during the week, helping the Bears to a 5-1 record. His nine hits included a double and a triple and he stole four bases and scored nine runs in the six games.

 

Bornemeier is hitting .356 this season with a .478 on-base percentage and a .438 slugging percentage. He has 26 hits in 73 at-bats, including four doubles and a triple. He has scored 19 runs and has driven in six runs. Bornemeier also has 15 stolen bases in 16 attempts and is tied for the conference lead in stolen bases.
