DMACC's Anthony Potthoff named ICCAC Pitcher of the Week for Division II Baseball
  • Freshman Greg Ryun of Victoria, Minn., has also been honored by the conference
  • Potthoff pitched seven scoreless innings in a 5-1 win over NIACC
  • Potthoff's seven-inning stint included three hits, nine strikeouts and two walks

 

The Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) has named DMACC's Anthony Potthoff the ICCAC Athlete of the Week for Division II Baseball (Pitching) for the week of March 22-28.

 

Potthoff, a freshman from Van Meter, is the second member of the DMACC baseball team to be honored for his pitching by the conference this season. Freshman Greg Ryun of Victoria, Minn., was honored for the week of Feb. 1 to 7.

 

Potthoff got the start and pitched seven scoreless innings to help the Bears to a 5-1 victory over North Iowa Area Community College (NIACC) March 26 at Mason City. He scattered three hits, struck out nine and walked two. The win was the start of a three-game winning streak for the Bears who took three of four games against the Trojans and finished the week at 5-1.

 

Potthoff is 1-1 with one save and a 5.65 earned run average this season. He has appeared in five games and has pitched 14 and a third innings. Potthoff has allowed 10 hits and 13 runs with 10 walks and 20 strikeouts. Nine of the 13 runs allowed by Potthoff are earned.
