The Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) has named DMACC's Greg Ryun the ICCAC Athlete of the Week for Division I baseball (pitching) for the week of February 1 to 7.
Ryun's performance also earned him Division II Pitcher of the Week honors from the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA).
Ryun, a freshman from Victoria, Minn., pitched three scoreless innings as the DMACC baseball team dropped a 10-3 loss to Northern Oklahoma College-Tonkawa (NOCT) in the first game of a doubleheader Feb. 5 at Tonkawa, Okla. The Mavericks are ranked third in the NJCAA Division I preseason poll.
In addition to holding NOCT scoreless in his three innings, Ryun struck out two batters and did not surrender a hit or a walk. He faced 10 batters in the three-inning stint.
DMACC, ranked 29th in the NJCAA Division I poll, also lost the second game, 5-2.
