DMACC's Calen Schwabe named to NJCAA Division II Gold Glove Team

Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) baseball player Calen Schwabe has been named to the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA)/Rawlings National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II Baseball Gold Glove Team. Schwabe becomes the fifth Gold Glove winner in the past ten years, joining Tyler Robbins in 2009, Blake Schmit in 2011, and Luke Fegan in 2016 and 2017.

 

Schwabe, a freshman from Thompson, N.D., was named to an outfield position on the team. He compiled a .993 fielding percentage during the 2018 season with 104 putouts from 145 total chances. He has four assists and just one error and participated in one double play.

 

Schwabe also helped the Bears to a 28-28 record with a .393 batting average, a .488 on-base percentage and a .449 slugging percentage. He had 70 hits in 178 at-bats, including six doubles and two triples, drove in 31 runs and scored 60 runs. He led DMACC in stolen bases with 25.
