DMACC's Matt Krambeck named ICCAC DII Position Player of the Week

The Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) has named Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) baseball player Matt Krambeck the ICCAC Division II Position Player of the Week for the week of April 29 to May 6.

 

Krambeck, a sophomore from Louisville, Neb., hit .500 with a pair of doubles, three home runs, 12 runs batted in and eight runs scored as the Bears split a doubleheader against Indian Hills Community College (IHCC) and won three of four games against Northeast (Neb.) Community College (NECC).

 

Krambeck had three hits, including a double and a home run, and drove in four runs in DMACC's 10-9 win over IHCC in the first game of a doubleheader on May 1. He drove in a run in an 14-6 loss to NECC in the first game of a doubleheader on May 4 and then helped the Bears to a five-inning, 11-1 win in the second game with a pair of base hits, including a home run and two RBIs.

 

Krambeck drove in a run in a 7-5 in over NECC in the opener on May 5 helped the Bears close out the series with a 14-4 victory in the nightcap, getting three hits, including a double and a home run and driving in two runs.

 

For the season, Krambeck is hitting .355 with a .420 on-base percentage and a .675 slugging percentage. He has 59 hits in 166 at-bats, including 13 doubles, two triples and a team-leading 12 home runs. Krambeck has driven in a team-high 52 runs and scored 40 runs.

 

The DMACC baseball team, 24-26 overall and 10-16 in the ICCAC, faces Kirkwood Community College (KCC) in the first round of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II Region XI Baseball Tournament May 10 at Clinton. The double-elimination tournament continues through 13 with the championship game set for 6 p.m. A second championship game, if necessary, would be played at noon on May 14.

 

The Region XI champion advances to the North Plains District Championship May 19 and 20 at the home of the Region XI champion. The North Plains District champion advances to the NJCAA Division II Baseball World Series May 26 to June 2 at Enid, Okla.
