Austin Weiler named ICCAC Position Player of the Week

Austin Weiler Player of the Week

The Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) has named Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) baseball player Austin Weiler the ICCAC Division II Position Player of the Week for the Week of April 2 to 8.

 

Weiler, a sophomore from Olathe, Kan., is the third DMACC baseball player to be honored by the ICCAC this season. Freshman Austin Murr of Denmark Township, Minn., was named ICCAC Division II Position Player of the Week for the week of March 5 to 11 and freshman Denver Blinn of West Fargo, N.D., earned the honor for the week of March 12 to 18.

 

Weiler hit .526 with 10 hits in 19 at-bats in DMACC's two-game series against Iowa Lakes Community College (ILCC) and four-game series against North Iowa Area Community College (NIACC). He was 5-of-6 with a pair of doubles and a home run against ILCC, driving in seven runs and scoring three runs. Weiler had five hits in 13 at-bats against NIACC, including a double and a home run. He drove in two runs and scored three runs. Weiler was responsible for 14 of the 40 runs the Bears scored in the six games.

 

For the season, Weiler is hitting .282 with 20 hits in 71 at-bats. His 20 hits include six doubles and three home runs. He has driven in 25 runs, scored 13 runs and stolen eight bases.

 

The DMACC baseball team, 15-15 overall and 4-6 in the ICCAC, faces Southeastern Community College (SECC) in doubleheaders April 13 and 16 at the DMACC baseball diamond.
