DMACC's Austin Murr Named ICCAC Athlete of the Week

Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) freshman Austin Murr has been named the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) Division II Position Player of the Week for the Week of March 5 to 11.

 

Murr, who is from Denmark Township, Minn., collected 21 hits in 39 at-bats over a 12-game stretch, compiling a .538 batting average.

 

Murr, a first baseman, was 10-of-17 as the Bears swept a four-game series from North Arkansas College and his hits included two doubles, two triples and a home run. He scored 11 runs and drove in nine as the Bears outscored the Pioneers 54-17 in sweeping the four games.

 

In addition to batting .538 this season, Murr has scored a team-leading 21 runs. His 21 hits include five doubles, three triples and a home run. He has driven in 13 runs and stolen four bases. He has a .617 on-base percentage and a .897 slugging percentage.

 

The DMACC baseball team, 8-6 on the season with eight consecutive victories, faces MCC-Longview on March 15 in Lee's Summit, Mo.
