DMACC women's cross country team finishes third in Grand View Invitational

 

Freshman Grace Collins of Johnston ran to a fifth-place finish in the Grand View Invitational September 23 at Ankeny and led the DMACC women's cross country team to a third-place finish in the team competition.

 

Collins' time over the 5K course was 20 minutes, 30 seconds. She finished just ahead of teammate Kayden Spencer, a freshman from Boone. Spencer was sixth in 20:33.

 

The Bears scored 82 points as a team in finishing behind Mount Mercy University (MMU) and Southeastern Community College (SECC). MMU took the team championship with 50 points and SECC was second with 72 points.

 

SECC's Aisha Ramone was the overall winner with a time of 19:52.

 

Other DMACC results included a 16th by freshman Tori Yunggebauer of Williamsburg. Sophomore Mkenzie Robinson of Marshalltown was 25th and sophomore Jillian Prouty of Oelwein finished in 30th place. Sophomore Madison Beaune of Jewell also ran for DMACC and finished in 42nd place.

 

Yunggebauer's time was 21:33, Robinson crossed the finish line in 22:29, Prouty posted a time of 22:50 and Beaune's time was 23:57.

 

The DMACC women's cross country team will run in the Indian Hills Invitational Oct. 13 at Ottumwa.
