DMACC's Grace Collins named ICCAC Athlete of the Week
  • Collins finished second in the Trent Smith Invitational on Sept. 15
  • Collins ran a career best 20 minutes, 44 seconds in the 5K race
  • Collins led two other DMACC runners to top five finishes

 

The Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) has named DMACC's Grace Collins the ICCAC Athlete of the Week for Division II Women's Cross Country for the week of September 11 to 17.

 

Collins is the first DMACC women's cross country runner to be honored by the ICCAC this fall.

 

Collins, a freshman from Johnston, ran a career best 20 minutes, 44 seconds in the 5K Trent Smith Invitational Sept. 15 at Mason City. She finished second in the individual competition and led two other DMACC runners to top five finishes as the Bears took home the team championship with 30 points and a 21-point advantage over second-place North Iowa Area Community College (NIACC). DMACC freshmen Kayden Spencer of Boone and Tori Yunggebauer of Williamsburg were third and fourth respectively behind Collins.

 

The DMACC cross country team will run in the Grand View Invitational Sept. 23 at Ankeny.
