DMACC women's cross country team finishes second in Bill Buxton Invitational

 

The DMACC women's cross country team opened the 2023 season in the Bill Buxton Invitational August 30 at Indianola and came away with a second-place finish.

 

Simpson College (SC) won the team championship with 19 points and DMACC scored 53 points in finishing second. SC's Lara Kallem took medalist honors with a time of 15 minutes, 17 seconds over the 4K course.

 

All six DMACC runners placed in the top 20. Freshman Tori Yunggebauer of Williamsburg led the Bears with a fifth-place finish in 16:41. Freshmen Kayden Spencer of Boone and Grace Collins of Johnston also finished in the top 10 at sixth and eighth respectively. Spencer posted a time of 16:51 and Collins crossed the finish line in 17:10.

 

DMACC sophomores Jillian Prouty of Oelwein, Madison Beaune of Jewell and Mkenzie Robinson of Marshalltown finished 16th, 18th and 19th respectively. Prouty turned in a time of 18:49, Beaune toured the course in 19 minutes and Robinson was timed in 19:21.

 

The DMACC women's cross country team will run in the Trent Smith Invitational Sept. 15 at Mason City.
