DMACC's Meg Thompson named ICCAC Athlete of the Week for Women's Golf
  • Thompson posts a 36-hole score of 168 in the Peru State Invite
  • Thompson shot 87 in the first round and posted an 81 on the second day
  • Thompson's scores were the second lowest each day

 

The Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) has named DMACC's Meg Thompson the ICCAC Athlete of the Week for Women's golf for the week of October 2 to 8.

 

Thompson, a sophomore from Greene, is the first member of the DMACC women's golf team to be honored by the ICCAC this fall.

 

Thompson earned the honor after posting a 36-hole score of 168 in the Peru State Invite Oct. 6 and 7 at Nebraska City, Neb. Golfers battled windy conditions on the first day and Thompson responded with an 87, the second lowest total of the day. She improved by six shots in the second round, posting an 81, also the second lowest total of the day.

 

Thompson and the DMACC women's golf team closed out the fall season by winning the DMACC Invitational Oct. 9 at Cedar Pointe Golf Course in Boone. Thompson took medalist honors with an eight-over-par 80.
