DMACC women's golf team finishes second in Waldorf Invite

 

The DMACC women's golf team came away with a second-place finish in the Waldorf Invite Sept. 29. at Rice Lake Country Club in Lake Mills.

 

Waldorf University (WU) won the team championship with 333 strokes and DMACC was second at 337. Brooklyn Materi of Dickinson State University (DSU) took medalist honors with a two-over-par 73.

 

DMACC was led by sophomore Meg Thompson of Greene who posted an 81 and tied for third in the individual competition. Freshman Anne van Hemert of Eindhoven, Netherlands, tied for fifth with an 83 and sophomore Erin Winker of Carroll tied for seventh with an 84.

 

Other DMACC results included an 85 by freshman Annie Burns of Algona, an 89 by freshman Viola Welsh of Fairfield, a 93 by freshman Halle Hagberg of Polk City, a 95 by freshman Alexis Baber of Newell, a 96 by freshman Lilly Houtakker of Solon and a 98 by sophomore Rylee Roberts of Des Moines.

 

Burns tied for ninth, Welsh tied for 17th, Hagberg finished in 32nd place, Baber tied for 34th, Houtakker tied for 36th and Roberts finished 41st.

 

The DMACC women's golf team will play in the Peru State Invitationals Oct. 6 and 7 at Table Creek Golf Course in Nebraska City, Neb.
