Michel leads DMACC women's golf team to second-place finish in ICCC  Spring Invite
  • Michel takes medalist honors with a 36-hole score of 153
  • Freshmen Kaylin Petrak and Erin Winker tie for 10th and 15th respectively
  • Sophomore Dani Nolde ties for 18th and freshman Meg Thompson ties for 30th

 

Sophomore Ashely Michel of Nassau, Bahamas, continued her fine play by winning medalist honors and leading the DMACC women's golf team to a second-place finish in the Iowa Central Spring Invite April 7 and 8 at the Fort Dodge Country Club in Fort Dodge.

 

Michel took medalist honors on 18-hole rounds of 81 and 72 for a 36-hole score of 153 and a four-stroke advantage over runner-up Amanda Karvala of Waldorf University (WU).

 

The Bears posted rounds of 346 and 343 for a two-day total of 689 to finish behind the 687 turned in by Iowa Central Community College (ICCC). The Tritons got the win on rounds of 341 and 346.

 

DMACC got a 10th-place finish from freshman Kaylin Petrak of Grimes. Freshman Erin Winker of Carroll tied for 15th and sophomore Dani Nolde of Ogallala, Neb., tied for 18th. Freshman Meg Thompson of Greene closed out the Bears' performance with a tie for 30th place.

 

Petrak shot rounds of 83 and 93 for a 36-hole score of 176 and Winker finished at 178 on two rounds of 89. Nolde posted scores of 93 and 89 for a 182 total and Thompson's tie for 30th came on rounds of 98 and 95 for a two-day total of 193.

The DMACC women's golf team will play in the Grand View Invite April 12 at Otter Creek Golf Course in Ankeny.
