Freshmen Reanna Hutchinson of Eau Claire, Wis., and Jaden Ainley of Clear Lake combined for 43 points to lead the DMACC women's basketball team to a 75-52 win over Iowa Central Community College (ICCC) January 11 inside the DMACC gymnasium.

 

Hutchinson scored 22 points and Ainley came away with 21 as the Bears improved to 8-6 overall and 2-3 in the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC). Freshman Rebekah Fuller of Bondurant joined Hutchinson and Ainley in double figures with 14 points.

 

DMACC had an 11-4 advantage at the end of the first quarter but led 29-26 at halftime after being outscored 22-18 in the second period. The Bears took command of the game in the third period, outscoring the Tritons 22-13 for a 51-39 lead heading into the final quarter.

 

DMACC shot 45 percent in the win, making 28 of 62 field goal attempts. The Bears were 6-of-18 from three-point range and 13-of-23 from the free throw line.

 

Ainley had nine rebounds, Fuller came away with eight and Hutchinson added six as DMACC finished with a 44-36 advantage on the boards. Freshman Kennedy Jones of Oak Park, Ill., dished out a team-high nine assists and Hutchinson topped the Bears in steals with five. Fuller led the way in blocked shots with four.

The DMACC women's basketball team will be home to the Central College Junior Varsity (CCJV) today. Game time is 5:30 p.m. inside the DMACC gymnasium. DMACC defeated CCJV, 81-43, when the two teams played Jan. 6 inside the DMACC gymnasium.
