DMACC WOMEN’S BASKETBALL TEAM FALLS TO NIACC, 65-48

Freshman Jaden Ainley of Clear Lake finished with 20 as the DMACC women's basketball team dropped a 65-48 decision to North Iowa Area Community College (NIACC) December 3 at Mason City.

 

The Bears, who fell to 5-4 overall and 0-1 in the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC), lost are holding leads of 18-6 at the end of the first quarter and 27-21 at halftime. NIACC outscored DMACC 19-10 in the third period for a 40-37 lead heading into the fourth quarter and used a 25-11 run in the final period to come away with the win.

 

The Bears shot 34 percent in the loss, hitting 18 of 53 field goal attempts. They were 5-of-19 from three-point range and made seven of 14 free throw attempts.

 

DMACC came away with a 37-33 advantage in rebounding with Covid-19 sophomore (CoSO) Camry Jones of Okoboji and freshman Rebekah Fuller of Bondurant grabbing eight rebounds apiece to lead the Bears. Ainley had five rebounds and led the Bears in steals with three. Freshman Jensen Archibald of Martinsdale topped DMACC in assists with three.

 

The DMACC women's basketball team will face Northeast (Neb.) Community College (NECC) December 7 at Norfolk, Neb. NECC is 6-4 overall and 0-1 in the ICCAC.
