DMACC's Courtney Donahue named ICCAC and NJCAA Pitcher of the Week

DMACC's Courtney Donahue named ICCAC and NJCAA Pitcher of the Week
  • Donahue won four games during the week
  • Three of Donahue's four wins were no-hitters
  • Donahue struck out 55 batters in 22 innings

 

The Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) has named DMACC's Courtney Donahue the ICCAC Athlete of the Week for Division II Softball (pitching) for the week of April 8 to 14.

 

Donahue was also named the Player of the Week for Division II Softball for the week of April 10 to 15 by the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA). She was also recognized by the NJCAA for the week of Feb. 28 to March 5.

 

The ICCAC recognition is the seventh of the season for Donahue and she is one of two members of the DMACC softball team to be recognized by the ICCAC this season. Hilary Wilson, a freshman from Solon, earned the honor the weeks of Feb. 12 to 18 and April 8 to 14.

 

Donahue, a sophomore from Marshfield, Wis., has also been recognized the weeks of April 1 to 7, March 25 to 31, March 18 to 24, March 11 to 17, Feb. 26 to March 3 and Feb. 12 to 18.

 

Donahue pitched four games during the week and recorded four victories, including three no-hitters. Her first no-hitter of the week came in a 9-0 win over North Iowa Area Community College (NIACC), April 8 at the DMACC softball diamond. Donahue went six innings, walking two batters and striking out 18.

 

On April 10, Donahue threw four innings in a 17-3 win over Ellsworth Community College (ECC) at the DMACC softball diamond. She allowed one run on four hits and struck out 11 batters.

 

Donahue recorded her second no-hitter of the week in a 10-0 win over Iowa Lakes Community College (ILCC) April 13 at Estherville. She threw five innings, walking two batters and striking out 18.

 

And on April 14 Donahue made it back-to-back no-hitters with a 1-0 win over NIACC at Mason City. She pitched seven innings, walked one batter and struck out 18.

 

For the week, Donahue pitched 22 innings, allowing one run on three hits with five walks and 55 strikeouts.

 

Donahue is 16-2 with a 0.94 earned run average. She has pitched 112 innings, allowing 18 runs, 15 earned runs, on 40 hits. She has walked 21 batters, struck out 234 batters and is averaging 14.63 strikeouts per seven innings.

 

Donahue leads the ICCAC in wins, earned run average and strikeouts. She also leads Division II of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) in strikeouts and is ranked third in earned run average and is tied for fourth in wins.
