DMACC men's cross country team finishes fifth in Bill Buxton Invitational

 

The DMACC men's cross country team came away with a fifth-place finish in the Bill Buxton Invitational Sept. 2 at Indianola.

 

Simpson College took the team championship with 30 points and DMACC scored 117 points in finishing fifth. The Bears were four points behind Southwestern Community College (SWCC), the only other community college team to compete in the meet.

 

Graceland University's Dillon Grover took individual honors on the 6K course, finishing in 18 minutes, 31 seconds.

 

Freshman Michael Lord of Des Moines led DMACC with an 18th-place finish in 21:02 and sophomore Devon Keuning of Ankeny was 19th in 22:24. Freshmen Brooklyn Pierce of Urbandale, Jake Hitchcock of Johnston and Rochard Tingue of Haiti rounded out DMACC's performance, finishing 25th, 27th and 28th respectively. Pierce crossed the finish line in 23:41, Hitchcock posted a time of 24:17 and Tingue turned in a time of 24:36.

 

The DMACC men's cross country team will compete in the Les Duke Invitational Sept. 10 at Grinnell.
