DMACC men's golf team finishes second in Evangel Spring Invite

 

The DMACC men's golf team came away with a second-place finish in the Evangel Spring Invite March 11 and 12 at Fremont Hills Country Club in Nixa, Mo.

 

The Bears posted a 312 in their second round on March 12 and finished the 36-hole event at 611, three strokes shy of winning the title. Evangel University (EU) won the championship with a score of 609 after shooting a 309 in the second round. The Valor trailed DMACC by one stroke after the Bears shot a 299 in the first round and EU turned in a 300.

 

DMACC sophomore Spencer Clatt of Gilbert captured medalist honors with a 6-over-par 150. Clatt shot two rounds of 75 and finished one stroke ahead of Tyler Hoxie of Central Christian College (CCC). Hoxie shot a 74 in the opening round and posted a 77 on his second tour of the par-71 layout.

 

DMACC sophomores Kaleb Allen of Burlington and Drake Anderson of Sioux City and freshman Drew Teeter of Albert Lea, Minn., tied for third, sixth and ninth respectively. Allen shot a 79 in the second round to go with an opening 73 and finished at 152. Anderson shot rounds of 78 and 76 to finish at 154 and Teeter, who joined Allen with a 73 in the first round, skied to an 82 in the second round and came away with a 36-hole total of 155.

 

Other DMACC results included a 15th-place finish for freshman Lari Hakanen of Kerava, Finland and a tie for 17th by freshman Caleb Ham of Hudson and sophomore Cole Johnson of Sioux City. Hakanen shot a 78 to go with an 80 in the first round and finished with a 158 total. Ham turned in a 77 in the second round and finished with a 36-hole score of 162 and Johnson closed at 162 following an 83 in the second round.

 

The DMACC men's golf team will play in the North Central District Preview April at Gates Park Golf Course in Waterloo
