DMACC men's golf team wins DMACC Invitational

 

The DMACC men's golf team swept the first four places en route to the team championship in the DMACC Invitational October 9 at Cedar Pointe Golf Course in Boone.

 

The Bears finished the 18-hole tournament with an even-par 288, 22 strokes better than the 310 points posted by the DMACC B team and 34 strokes ahead of third-place Iowa Lakes Community College (ILCC).

 

Sophomore Spencer Clatt of Gilbert led the Bears to the title with a two-under-par 70 and took medalist honors. DMACC sophomore Calvin McNeeley of Pleasant Hill was second at one-under-par 71, freshman Drew Teeter of Albert Lea, Minn., placed third with a 73 and sophomore Kaleb Allen of West Burlington rounded out the Bears' performance with a 74 and finishing fourth overall. DMACC sophomore Drake Anderson of Sioux City also competed in the tournament and shot a 79, tying for ninth place in the individual competition,

 

Sophomore Cole Johnson of Sioux City led DMACC B with a 75 and tied for sixth. Freshman Caleb Ham of Hudson posted a 76 and finished seventh overall and freshman Zach Julander of Pleasant Hill tied for ninth with a 79. Sophomore Layden Losh of Boone and freshman Lari Hakanen of Kerava, Finland, also competed for DMACC B and posted an 80 and 84 respectively. Losh finished 11th and Hakanen was 12th.

 

DMACC sophomore Cade McGill of Johnston and freshman Grant Van Veen of Prairie City played unattached in the tournament. McGill posted a 74 and tied for fourth and Van Veen was 13th with an 85.

 

The DMACC men's golf team will close out the fall season in the Quad Cup Oct. 19 at Mason City.
