DMACC baseball team takes 5-3 decision from Iowa Central CC

 

The DMACC baseball team rallied for five runs in the top of the seventh inning and kept Iowa Central Community College (ICCC) off the scoreboard in the bottom of the inning to take a 5-3 decision from the Tritons in the first game of a doubleheader March 25 at Fort Dodge. The second game was postponed.

 

Sophomores Jaylen Ziegler of Urbandale, Camden Kaufman of Waukee and Colin Driscoll of Waukee drove in runs as the Bears improved to 13-11 overall and 1-3 in the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC). DMACC collected just six hits in the game, singles by Ziegler and sophomores Cael Boever of Sioux City, Kannon Coakley of Maquoketa and Noah Thein of Dewitt and freshman Jackson Manning of Keosauqua. Kaufman accounted for the Bears lone extra-base hit with a double.

 

Ziegler, Kaufman, Manning, sophomore Dillon Kuehl of Urbandale and freshman Carter Bryan of Johnston scored runs for DMACC.

 

Sophomore Chance Key of Waverly improved to 3-0 with the win. He pitched all seven innings, allowing three runs on seven hits with two strikeouts and two walks.

 

The DMACC baseball team will play a doubleheader against Southeastern Community College (SECC) March 27 at the DMACC baseball diamond. SECC is 18-7 overall and 2-2 in the ICCAC.
