DMACC's Camden Kaufman named ICCAC Athlete of the Week
  • Kaufman hit .769 in a four-game series against Dakota County TC
  • Kaufman had three home runs and two doubles and drove in 13 runs
  • Kaufman scored runs in three of the four games

 

The Iowa Community College Athletic Association (ICCAC) has named DMACC's Camden Kaufman the ICCAC Athlete of the Week for Division II Baseball for the week of March 4 to 10.

 

The honor is the second of the season for Kaufman and he is one of three members of the DMACC baseball team to be honored by the conference this season. Kaufman, a sophomore from Waukee, was also honored the week of Feb. 26 to March 3. Sophomore Dillon Kuehl of Urbandale was honored the week of Jan. 29 to Feb. 4 and sophomore Eli Lehrman of Anamosa was honored for his pitching the week of Jan. 29 to Feb. 4.

 

Kaufman went 10-for-13 at the plate as DMACC won three of four games against Dakota County Technical College (DCTC) March 10 and 11 at the DMACC baseball diamond. He started slowly, going 1-for-3 with an RBI in a 7-5 win in the first game of a doubleheader on March 10. He had two hits and scored a run in an 8-5 loss in the second game.

 

Kaufman turned up his performance in a doubleheader on March 11, going 3-for-3 with a double and a home run, three RBIs and three runs scored in a 13-3 win in the opener. He capped the series with a 4-for-4 performance in a 13-9 win in the second game. His four hits included a double and two home runs and he drove in five runs and scored three runs.

 

Kaufman's series totals included two doubles, three home runs, nine runs batted in and seven runs scored.

 

Kaufman is hitting .470 with a .532 on-base percentage and a .879 slugging percentage. He has 31 hits in 66 at-bats and his hits include 10 doubles, a triple and five home runs. He has driven in 32 runs and scored 22 runs. Kaufman is second in the ICCAC in batting average and is tied for the lead in runs batted in.

 

The DMACC baseball team, 12-8, is idle until March 20 when the Bears will play a doubleheader against Iowa Western Community College (IWCC) at Council Bluffs. The Reivers, an NJCAA Division I program, are 15-4 and are ranked fifth in NJCAA Division I.
