DMACC's Camden Kaufman named ICCAC Athlete of the Week
  • Kaufman batted .538 in Bears' season-opening three-game series
  • Kaufman's hits included a game-winning grand slam home run
  • Kaufman drove in eight runs in the series

 

The Iowa Community College Athletic Association (ICCAC) has named DMACC's Camden Kaufman the ICCAC Athlete of the Week for Division II baseball for the week of January 29 to February 4.

 

Kaufman, a sophomore from Waukee, is one of two members of the DMACC baseball team to be honored during the week. Sophomore Eli Lehrman of Anamosa was named the ICCAC Athlete of the Week for Division II Baseball (pitching).

 

Kaufman batted .538 with seven hits in 13 at-bats as the Bears opened the season with two wins in a three-game series against Cloud County Community College (CCCC) Feb. 1 and 2 at Concordia, Kan. Kaufman's hits included three doubles and a grand slam home run. He drove in eight runs, scored five runs and had one stolen base. The grand slam home run gave the Bears a 10-6 win in the final game of the series.

 

Kaufman had three hits, including a pair of doubles, scored four runs and drove in two runs in DMACC's 12-9 win in 11 innings in the second game of a doubleheader on Feb. 1. In addition to his grand slam home run, he had a double and two singles and drove in six runs in the Bears' 10-6 12-inning victory on Feb. 2.

 

The DMACC baseball team is idle until Feb. 16 to 18 when the Bears will travel to Texas for games against North Central Texas College, Kansas City (Kan.) Community College (KCKCC) and Dallas College Eastfield.
