DMACC's Dillon Kuehl named ICCAC Athlete of the Week for Division II Baseball
  • Kuehl helped the Bears to four wins in five games during the week
  • Kuehl hit .438 with two home runs and eight runs batted in
  • Kuehl is ranked in the top five in the ICCAC in slugging percentage

 

The Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) has named DMACC's Dillon Kuehl the ICCAC Athlete of the Week for Division II Baseball for the week of May 1 to 7.

 

Kuehl, a freshman from Urbandale, is one of six DMACC baseball players to have been honored by the conference this spring. Sophomore Brodie Kresser of Jesup received the honor for the week of April 17 to 23 and freshman Mitchell Cummings of Chanhassen, Minn., was honored the week of Jan. 27 to Feb. 5.

 

Three DMACC players have been honored for their pitching performances. Freshman Cooper Smith of Johnston was honored for the week of March 27 to April 2 and freshman Chance Key of Waverly received the honor the week of March 13 to 19. Sophomore Joe Husak of Cambridge has earned the honor twice, the week of Feb. 20 to 26 and the week of Jan. 27 to Feb. 5.

 

Kuehl helped DMACC to four wins in five games during the week. He batted . 438, collecting seven hits in 16 at-bats, including a pair of home runs, drove in eight runs and scored seven runs.

 

Kuehl concluded the regular season with a .360 batting average, a .537 on-base percentage and a .721 slugging percentage. He had 40 hits in 111 at-bats and his hits included eight doubles, four triples and eight home runs. Kuehl has driven in 34 runs and scored 33 runs.

 Kuehl is ranked third in the conference in triples and is seventh in walks with 39. His .797 slugging percentage in conference games ranks him among the top five in the league.

 

The DMACC, 31-23 overall, faces Kirkwood Community College (KCC) in the first round of the 2023 National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region 11 Division II Baseball Championship May 11 at West Burlington. DMACC is seeded sixth and KCC is seeded third. The Eagles, 36-16, defeated DMACC in two of the three games the two teams played this spring. The tournament continues through May 14 at West Burlington
