DMACC's Joe Husak named ICCAC Pitcher of the Week for Division II Baseball
  • Husak is one of two DMACC baseball players to be honored this season
  • Husak's one-hitter leads Bears to a 3-1 win over NOCE
  • Husak has a 2.16 earned run average this season

 

The Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) has named DMACC's Joe Husak the ICCAC Athlete of the Week for Division II Baseball (pitching) for the week of Feb. 20 to 26.

 

This is the second time Husak, a sophomore from Cambridge, has been honored by the conference and he is one of two members of the DMACC baseball team to be honored this season. He earned the honor the week of Jan. 27 to Feb. 5 and sophomore Mitchell Cummins of Chanhassen, Minn., was also honored the week of Jan. 27 to Feb. 5.

 

Husak tossed a one-hitter in helping the Bears to a 3-1 win over Northern Oklahoma College-Enid Feb. 25 at Enid, Okla. He struck out three batters and did not issue a walk while throwing just 66 pitches in the seven-inning game. The win was his third of the season in three starts.

 

Husak, who is tied for first in the ICCAC in wins, has a 2.16 earned run average so far this season. He has pitched 16 and two-thirds innings, allowing six runs on 10 hits with four of the runs being earned. He has struck out seven, walked five and is averaging 3.78 strikeouts per nine innings.

 

The DMACC baseball team is 7-5 this season. The Bears will play a four-game series against Butler Community College (BCC) March 4 and 5 at El Dorado, Kan.
